Totems
This project involves a complete makeover of Greystones train station, with the integration of stunning visual elements telling the story of the town.
In addition to rows of spectacular Corten Steel Totems displaying artistic portraits of legends associated with Greystones, the station will also be decorated with wall painted murals, Portuguese Laurel hedging, colourful planter pots plus additional practical seating facilities.
AODH Design were tasked with designing and visualising the totems and their details. Future development will include a complete makeover of the trainstation’s interior.

These H3m x W1.4m landmark artisan Corten Steel Totems featuring striking portraits of Greystones legends. A maximum of nine Totems will be created, and installed in prime locations along the platforms of Greystones Railway Station.
The portraits have been created by artist Tom Byrne (Artist Tom Byrne), and photographed by Gillian Buckley (Gillian Buckley Photography) with the finest craftmanship of Billy Griffin (Artisan Solutions) ensuring that the final aesthetic is of an extremely high quality. Local artist Mary Kate Hardy (Mary-Kate Hardy Art) has been commissioned to paint a wall mural along the station’s eastern platform featuring nostalgic and original images linked closely with Greystones and the surrounding landscapes.
A QR code fixed to the Totem will also link to further information about the individual who appears on each, allowing visitors to find out more about the featured legend.
